I set up the HD-XA2 to play 480i over component outputs. It looks great, but I can't say for sure that it looks any better than the $50 Toshiba DVD player it replaced. There is no way for me to do direct comparisons, much less blind or double blind.

The disk tray seems to be *very* flimsy. I was more than a bit surprised by that. I guess I'll just have to continue being careful.

BTW, I am really impressed by Onecall's customer service. I have called them twice, due to my credit card company declining my charge because they thought it might be fraudulent. Both times I spoke with someone who was not in India, knew what they were talking about, understood my problem and did what they said they would do. Refreshing, no?

Congrats on your new toys!

You shouldn't expect the XA2 to look any different at 480i, but I suspect you'll be wowed by the 1080 when your new set arrives.

BTW, I hope you have a good surround sound system to hook this up to. The sounds are amazing in DTS!

No DTS, but my Onkyo 939 and 400 watt sub-woofer are proven to be excellent for Dolby Digital. I don't see an overwhelming reason to "upgrade".

Now back to Blazing Saddles in HD!

That will be one of my "free" HD-DVDs.
