I did exactly what you are looking to do. If you want a cheap way
out, there are a ton of DirectTV boxes that do what you want, and are
readily available on ebay. You don't need a dish or a subscription.
I recommend one of these three:
LG LSS-3200A,
Sony SAT-HD300,
Hughes HTL-HD
Hughes HTL-HD and I am very impressed with the functionality. thereFrom what I understand, they are all the same box from LG. I got the

antenna"?
