I have an Onkyo 7.1 Receiver.
Cable box audio is connected to the receiver with one cable, and my DVD
player audio is connected to the receiver with another cable.
One of the cables (doing this from memory, as it's been months since I
connected it) is optical, one is coax.
Now I'm starting to think that I'm not getting that great of a surround-
sound-effect when I watch cable, even if the program is broadcast in
5.1. (BTW, I have a button on the remote that says 'display.' When I
hit that button, it tells me something like 2.0 or 3/2.1)
That doesn't sound right.
Check the receiver remote or front panel
for a button marked input, or RTM.
It sounds like your receiver is set for analog input.
You need it to be set to AUTO or DIGITAL or similar.
