I think I just found what you are talking about. I just looked up the
owners manual ( the exact model # is KDFE42A10) If you go into the Wega
menu under screen settings, there is a 4:3 default submenu that says at
the top "automatic sizing for 4:3 pictures". Then you have a choice of
zoom, wide zoom, full or normal. Maybe this is what I was suppose to do?
That's it. The TV will recognize when it is receiving 4:3 and remember your
display choice.
