Standby light blinking on my Sony HDTV

Was wondering if anyone could shed some light on an isue I'm having
with my year and a half old Sony KP-51WS520. It had been working fine
until yesterday when I went to turn it on and all I got was the standby
light repeatedly blinking. ten blinks, pause, nine blinks, pause, nine
blinks, pause, nine blinks, pause, etc.
I suspect there is an issue with a new DVD player (Philips DVP5960/37)
I just hooked up the day before the issue arose. I found that the TV
would turn on normally if the DVD player was turned off. Not happy, but
figuring I could deal with it, I left it like that. Problem is, when I
went to turn on the TV today, I can't get it to work no matter what I
do. Right now, I unplugged all the inputs, but the TV just keeps giving
me the standby blink.
Is it possible that the DVD player damaged something on the TV?
The TV is out of warranty, so any insight would be greatly appreciated.
