Yep, definitely a TV issue. You might be able to get a firmware updateI have an Aquos HD LCD TV with OTA reception. Sometimes when the non-HD signal goes crazy and breaks up, the sides of the frame that aren't being used and are normally black will "fill up" with some of the image as it stretches for just a second. When the picture settles downIMO, it is an oversight on the part of Sharp. SD transmissions don't
again, that frozen bit of image remains on the edges till I change the channel and then change back.
Is this something with my TV or with their transmission?
fill the sides. I think the TV should clear the sides of the screen
every time it achieves lock with an SD signal. If the guys that
designed it actually used it like you are, they would say 'Oops, gotta
fix that'. They obviously do that when changing channels so the most of
the software is already there. Always easy to define the problem in
hindsight when sitting in an easy chair, though.
that will fix the problem. Call Sharp and pursue it with them. You
might have to be very stubborn to get in touch with someone who
actually knows anything though.
How do you get a "firmware" update? I don't have cable so they can't pump it to me, and I'm not inclined to pack up this 100 lb plus monster and try to haul it there. It wouldn't even fit into my car.
