The logo was presumably from your station only. On my PBS station
(KLRU), it was in the wrong aspect ratio with no logo other than the
ever-present KLRU-HD station bug. Somebody at the national level
screwed up.
Fortunately my old Panasonic STB tuner, while crappy in many ways, has
an aspect ratio override on the remote.
