Thanks Tam, I'll check out the LC-45GX6U.No. It converts everything to 1366 x 768. However, that is still better than
Say, maybe you can clear something up for me. I see in the specs for
the Sharp LC-45D40U that the resolution is 1366x768 but that it can do
480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. However doesn't 1080i/p imply that
there are 1920 pixels across and 1080 pixels vertically?
any plasma set of the same size. A plasma set would convert everything to
1024 x 768 (or 720) with elongated pixels. I am not into games, but the 6
millisecond response time should be good for games.

HI Gang,
I'm looking to buy a 46" LCD to watch HD content on and occcasionally
use to display output from my laptop. I think going with 1080p is the
best way to future-proof myself but from some of the other posts in
this group I learned that a) being able to display 1080p is not the
same as b) having a 1080p input. The two 1080p TVs I currently have my
sights on are:
Samsung LN-S4696D
1920x1080 resolution, but Component video input only goes up to 1080i).
Does the HDMI input implicitly allow 1080p?
Sharp Aquos LC-45GD7U
1920x1080 resolution but doesn't state 1080i or 1080p.
Don't know, but the LC-45GX6U does 1080P. Also, there is an LC-45D40U;
resolution is 1360 x768, but it has 1200:1 contrast, and 6 ms response
time.

Can either of these display a 1080p signal that a - say - PlayStation3
will output? Does anyone have any recommendations for a like-sized LCD
TV? I'd like to go plasma but I'm low on space and I like the higher
resolutions that LCDs can provide.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff
