I was thinking... My father has an old portable TV that uses one antenna (like one rabbit ear type) and batteries.
It is useful for travelling and disasters (a major quake -- no power, etc.). How will this work when digital is
enforced in 2009? Will these portable TVs become useless? These TVs don't have tuners for digital TV.

With a supposedly firm date of Feb. 17, 2009 for the analog shutdown and most stations going full power on their digital broadcast by July 1, 2007 AND a requirement that all TVs 13" and larger made after March 1, 2007 have ATSC tuners, I would expect we will see portable TVs with ATSC tuners showing up sometime in 2007. ... For those, you will have to buy a ATSC set top box, but who knows if we will ever see ATSC tuners made for the portable battery powered market? ...
