These TVs don't have tuners for digital TV.

Yes, it will become useless. IF it has inputs like a/v, then you could use
an external tuner with it. But it'll probably be cheaper just to buy a new
portable.

With a supposedly firm date of Feb. 17, 2009 for the analog shutdown and most stations going full power on their digital broadcast by July 1, 2007 AND a requirement that all TVs 13" and larger made after March 1, 2007 have ATSC tuners, I would expect we will see portable TVs with ATSC tuners showing up sometime in 2007. ... For those, you will have to buy a ATSC set top box, but who knows if we will ever see ATSC tuners made for the portable battery powered market? ...
