Are you looking for a direct view flat panel LCD HD TV? Just want to
make sure that you not looking for a rear projection TV. If flat panel
LCD, your choices are very limited at this time above 46".

Sharp has had the 65" Aquos on the market for a few months here in the
US, but it lists for around $21,000 USD and it is likely only found at
high end dealers or a few on-line vendors willing to deal with something
that expensive. As already pointed out, Sharp has announced a 57" model,
but I have not kept up on when it might be released. Any info I have is
for the US market, not Europe or the UK.

There have been other large 55" and bigger LCD TVs shown at trade
shows on the past several years - by Samsung, LG, others, IIRC - but
these have never been released as actual products. These large screens
have likely proven too expensive to make with the current generation of
raw panel sizes at LCD plants. When the newer plants come on line with
larger raw panel size and higher yields, then 50" to 65" flat panel LCDs
will become more widely available and more affordable.

Until then, if you are buying the HD TV for TV and movie viewing,
plasmas in that size range have better picture quality and far less
expensive. Panasonic will be introducing into the US market next month a
1366x768 58" consumer plasmas for around $5500 USD and supposedly in
August or September a 1920x1080 65" plasma for a mere $10K USD.
