I have the Series 2 model with the DVI connector, but never had this
happen with the DVI. Have you tried a cold reset? This is not just
turning it off, but unplugging it, waiting a minute or 2, then plugging
back in. When you turn off a DVR, it really does not turn off - only the
display and maybe the output video hardware is turned off while the rest
is still on. [side comment: my Motorola 6412 consumes around 45 Watts
"off" 24 hours a day and around 48 Watts "on". Other than my fridge, it
is the largest power hog in the house outside of summer when the A/C may
be running.]
Don't unplug it just before you watch TV or are about to record
programs as the Guide info is lost and takes hours to slowly reload as
the guide data stream runs in the background. If a cold reset doesn't
work, call the cable company and hope you can get a CSR who can help.

Thanks, Alan for the info.
I tried the hard reset and HDMI still won't work. Guess I'll call
Comcast. If they can't help, I'll just take it in and exchange it for
another one.
