Yes, it is normal for the 8300hd to turn itself off in the early morning
hours.

I just got a Scientific Atlanta HD-DVR from Comcast. Worked fine that
first day. The next morning I noticed that the unit was off (time still
showing). I turned the unit back on and it worked all right. Then, later
on that day, it turned itself off again. I called Comcast and the CSR
said that the unit was designed to turn the DVR off at 2:00 in the morning
but he had no explanation for the random turn-offs.
Has anyone heard of the DVR being programmed to turn off at 2:00 in the
morning?
