I failed to mention:

Step 3 can also be done within the Cyberlink Power Director software with
their PhotoNow! module, included at no extra charge I believe. The saved
photo images can be arbitrarily cropped using a moving and resizable crop
window, and there are also many enhancement options to change the cropped
image brightness, contrast, color, sharpness, etc.

Thnks, we found that Ulead Media Studio 8 does what we need, except it
gives an
insufficient memory error if you try to save in any compressed format.
They are
working on finding and hopefully fixing the bug (the computer has a gig of

The Cyperlink Power Director does NONE of the 3 things listed, that was
the
first one tried, and bought, but then found that it did not do any of
them.

Adobe Premiere Pro, Ulead Media Studio Pro, Sony Vegas, and others can
be
had in the $100 and up range for more professional editing.

On the Mac, iMovie HD 5 and iMovie HD 6 as well as Final Cut Express HD
and
Final Cut Pro HD all do a very nice job as well.
