Live in Bergen County, New Jersey. The 50" HP - PL5000N HDTV I
purchased is manufactured by Panasonic, and is the same set as the
Panasonic 50PX500U, except HP eliminated the bottom silver bezel you
get on the 50PX500U in favor of an all black one. As in most cases,
it's usually not the TV but the providers who have the gun to our
head. You mention "over compressed crap" and your overall
dissatisfaction with the satellite service, any idea what signal
strength you're receiving at the DirectTV dish?

I dont know where you live, but the Tampa locals on DirecTV are the.
godawfullest worstest overcompressed crap I've seen in years. I find
myself locating a network show I want to watch on DTV then tuning in
OTA digital stations to actually watch it (Panasonic 42" ETV plasma).
I'm amazed at the OTA digital quality. Makes me want HD altho I'll be
darned if I pay $500 for each DirecTV HD DVR. When my year is up I
guess I'll be going to FIOS which should be here by then.

Here is my predicament. I have had Cable TV and High speed internet
(Optimum Online) for a number of years now and just recently added
Internet phone service. Everything was fine until I went out and
bought a 50" Plasma (HP - PL5000N) HDTV. The HIdef channels 701 - 713
and DVD's look great, but the rest of the channels are somewhat
grainy, wavy, or are just a disappointment. I am very satisfied with
the High speed Internet service and VOIP Phone service, but not with
the TV reception on the 50" plasma. Now I have heard that satellite
TV is much clearer then cable on digital and analog channels. Do I
keep just the Hi speed Internet and phone service on cable and use
satellite for TV broadcasts and drop cable for TV reception?
