OK, maybe someone can tell me what I am doing wrong. I am not a computer
newbie but some things about XP hang me up. I have the SpyderTV
colorimeter
software running on one machine, and when I add the /support switch to the
shortcut, it starts up with the screen with the x,y,Y color coordinate
data
like it is supposed to. Now I loaded the software on a different machine
and tried the same thing and it will not recognize the /support switch and
starts with the normal screen only. Is there some setting in XP that
limits
the ability to modify a .exe start from a shortcut with added parameters
like this? Did Colorvision delete the /support from the software? I did
download the setup file at different times. Also, why does XP use the
quotes in shortcuts?

That is to define the path because of the (mis-)use of blank "space"
characters in file and folder names.

This is what works in a shortcut on one machine, but not on the other.

"C:\Program Files\SpyderTV\SpyderTV.exe" /support

Is this exactly the same on the two, regarding blank/space and "
characters?

Just some ideas:
Check what happens on both machines if you open a Command Prompt
(under Programs - Accessories), navigate to the SpyderTV folder and
enter

SpyderTV.exe /support

If that works you could try is to start the program via a .bat file.
If that works; start the bat file from the link.

Thanks. I can start it from the command prompt. I am just confused as to
why I can't get the shortcut to behave the same. Yes, the characters are
exactly the same on the two machines. There is one space after the quoted
text, then the slash, then the word support with no space in between.
