You can use both the CableCard equipped HDTV and a cable box+TV . You
will have to use a coax splitter on the incoming cable line to feed at
least two out going lines. The splitter must be capable of carrying a
signal both ways. Note some splitters are one-way only and will not
work with the cable box but should work with the CarbleCard as the
latter is one-way only now. Some cable companies will supply a
two-way splitter free of charge but you can also buy them from a
store that sells A/V equipment or electronic supplies.
As Mack McKinnon says, you will also have to notify your cable company
that you have the equivalent of two cable box devices in your home and
will have to supply them with the additional information to identify
your CableCard so that their equipment will recognize it. You may
also be billed extra for the additional "cable box equivalent" in your
home.
A cable company with good service support will also send out a
technician to help you set up your new equipment and make sure it is
working properly.

Having had a cable card and, now, an SA 8300HD cable box, I think you would
have to set up two separate accounts with the cable company to do that --
one a CC account, the other a cable box account, since the signals come
through different computers at the cable company. Not sure if you could use
one cable line into the house or not, but a second cable line coming in is
probably not that big a deal -- we have a separate line coming in for
RoadRunner, rather than just a splitter off the TV cable line. Would
certainly cost you more money.

I'm planning on getting an HDTV with an integrated tuner. If I get a
Cable Card installed, can I still use a box and bypass the Cable Card
to get the interactive PPV/VOD programming? Or do I have to choose
either the Card or box, but not both, and deal with the limitations of
each? As you can tell, I'd like to have my cake and eat it too.
Thanks,
