Setup Question: Pre-Amp Used on UHF OTA w/ DirecTV

Hi All.

New to the HDTV world, but trying to catch on quickly.

Right now, DirecTV only offer limited local channels in my area. By
using and OTA antenna, I find that I am able to get a great deal more
public broadcast networks than DirecTV is providing.

I've just purchased a Terrestrial Digital DB4 UHF antenna along with a
Channel Master Titan2 7777 preamplifier. My question is this: what is
the proper install sequence?

Right now I have two sat feeds from the Dual LNB going into an 8-port,
non-powered multiswtich. The feeds off the multiswitch are run directly
to the DirecTV receivers in each of the various rooms throuhgout the
house.

Now - I understand how to set up the UHF antenna, and even how to run
it through the multiswitch using a diplexer inside near the HDTV set to
separate the signals back down for my built in HDTV tuner. My question
arise when it comes to the preamp.

According to the Channel master instructions, the preamp is mounted on
the mast with the antenna, and then the power supply is placed
relativey close to the television. I'm assuming the preamp powr supply
is sending voltage back up to the piece that is mounted on the antenna
mast, correct?

I know I can use a dual passive diplexer to allow the current from the
preamp to get back through the line, but wouldn't sending current back
up to antenna through the multiswitch cause problems for the satellite
equipment?

Having spent $55 for the preamp, I want to make sure that when I
install it (as soon as I get some feedback here) it is actually doing
what it is supposed to do.

Thanks for any assistance in advance.

Chris
