Almost all shows concentrate on the center. Unless you're watching a

about half your viewing area. Now that's a fact regradless of statements
you might see to the contrary.
Where do you get your facts? Cite a source please.
The source is the Tv screen. All one has to do is look at it in 16:9 and
then in 4:3. Now here's some more facts on which one can use to base their
choice on.
1. Most of the time, there's no useful video outside the center box of a
16:9 picture. IOW's the show is SD to begin with, or HD concentraing on
the center. At present time (11:45AM) there are 23 SD over HD programs on
and 0 (zero) actual HD programs on tv. IOW's all shows are native 4:3.
2: On a 16:9 screen, zooming, stretching an sd picture to full screen
gives you short stubby objects almost twice as wide as normal. Unwatchable
IMO.
3. On a 4:3 set zooming the 16:9 picture to full screen gives you the
proper aspect ratios and just cuts the edges off. I've been watching HD
for a few months now using this format and switch back to a native 16:9
picture. I can't recall a single instance where I was missing anything of
importance using the 16:9 zoom mode. Of course if you don't have a 4:3 HD
set, you can't test this. But consider the fact that 4:3 analog sets are
still in the majority. The great majority of even current TV shows are
filmed in SD, and all older ones are in SD. With a 16:9 widescreen almost
half your screen is wasted on these shows.
4. It takes about a 40in. 16:9 screen get the same viewing area as a 32in
4:3 screen when watching SD over HD. So if you plan on replacing your
current 4:3 set with a new 16:9, you may want to consider this.
In the end, it's a individual choice. I'll take 4:3 everyday.. If you
prefer a wide screen, that's your choice.
Wes, go back to the PC hardware and software NG's that you do know something
about.
You don't know what you're talking about in this one.
