You are loosing your signal in the 200 feet of cable. Do get an antenna
mounted preamp. While you are at it, this might be a good time to get a new
antenna, but I would try the preamp on the existing one first.
An HD antenna is no different from a regular antenna, so long as it covers
VHF and UHF as you require. Problem you might have is that the stations are
not all in the same direction.
25 miles is not very far. My local stations are 26 miles, and most of the
VHF ones are usually watchable with rabbit ears.
