Questions: What is your ZIP code ? (so we get an idea of what you're up
against)
What is the VHF/UHF antenna ? Is it banged up or corroded? Are you
attempting more than one direction ? (though we can sort that out from
your ZIP).

If you're using the U/V splitter as a combiner, I assume you have the
U/V antenna connected to the VHF port and your UHF antenna connected to
the UHF port. The 'splitter' will reduce the UHF portion of the U/V
antenna by itself.

In the past I've used Winegard all channel antennas 50 miles out with
excellent results including the UHF. For that I had the antenna mounted
preamp to pre-boost the signal before the cable run. Being 50 miles out
there was only one problem with a local college FM station that was
helped with an FM trap.
