Yes, as other have already posted, it is quite possible to get HD free over the air. Verify that the DLP HD TV does not have a ATSC tuner first. ATSC = digital Over The Air tuner. If it is more than a year old, then it is very possible that it does not have one. All current TVs larger than 36" made after July, 2005 have been required to have a ATSC tuner to be called a TV.
However, checking the digital HD broadcast station list at
www.avsforum.com only shows 2 HD stations in Eugene, OR: ABC, CBS.
Checking the thread for Eugene
(http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=276307&highlight=Eugene)
I from a quick scan that the local Fox, NBC stations broadcast digitally, but may not yet be HD. But digital broadcasts will offer better picture quality, even if it is just SD.
Good luck, Alan F

Hello, I am exchange Student from Germany in the State of Oregon. My Hostdad has a HDTV Ready DLP Projection TV with Comcast analog cable. For Christmas I decided to make him a present with paying a 2 year subscription for HDTV, unfortunately I had to find out that he would have to get digital cable in order to get HD so I decided to get him something else because I didn't know what he would think about having to continue the subscription after I am away. Some days ago someone told me that there is a way to get local TV Stations HD program without having to pay huge amounts of money for any subscription, and my Dad actually only wants to use it for watching Football and CSI (which are on local stations here in Eugene) Now I made some researches and figuered out that I actually just need a HDTV OTA tuner like the Samsung SIR T451 and an UHF indoor antenna (TV Stations are only 8-10 miles away) I was amazed when I found this out so I thought there must be a problem anyhow because I can't belief that it is possible to economise like 20 bucks a month and 5 for a tuner only with buying a tuner and an antenna.
So my question is: Is it really possible to get HDTV via receiver and antenna and a little bit configuring of the antenna?
Thanks very much for your help and sorry for my bad english :) Matze
