SAMSUNG HCN4226W... Purchased 6/15/04............Died today January 15th 2006 RIP So what's a GOOD LCD?

My Father was a Engineer who worked for RCA, on the side he fixed TV's and
taught me. TV's lasting 15 even 30 years wasn't uncommon, especially for
some B&W's. I purchased a Proscan 36" 10 years ago and when that gave up the
ghost, I looked at the Samsung. Since I was happy with the DVD players, I
figured let me look at the TV's. It got good reviews, but didn't last long
now did it.

I'm making a service call on Monday to Samsung just to find out how much it
will cost me to fix, but honestly I may just take it apart myself and buy a
new set. I may go back to the CRT's. (the TV's are pretty much on 24/7)
>From looking over the DLP's and Plasma.... The lifespan of these two types
aren't impressive, the DLP lamp issue is horrid, the LCD's fair better....
and a lot of hype surrounds HDTV. I'm certainly not impressed by it. The
GREATEST boost in quality certainly came from dumping cable and going Sat.

I've got the CRT's down, but will look at the LCD's. I do like the wall
mounting saves a lot of room. I'd stay with the 42 inch area. What does
everybody think of the Hitachi, Toshiba's and Panasonics???
