Sounds interesting.

When they pull the plug on analog broadcasting in 3 years it WILL be
profitable to build and sell OTA receivers.

I wonder. By then things will have changed. More people will be downloading from broadband. Things like Netflix will have grown by maybe 30 million customers, etc. DVR will be more widespread, FIOS will be competing with cable and satellite and maybe there will be real choice of programming on cable and FIOS with ala carte.

The players who could get excited by OTA may just not see it being all that worthwhile even with a decent receiver. And at what cost? No idea. I am beginning to think that OTA in the US may have been killed.

I would think all of these 120 ATSC members would disagree.

http://www.atsc.org/atscmembers.html

These organizations/manufacturers pay thousands of dollars per year for ATSC membership.

There are presently 1550 Stations in 211 Markets Delivering 8VSB in digital television. More being added all the time.

Yeah...... 8VSB DTV broadcasters are just dropping like flies, bob.

Broadcasters must broadcast if they want to qualify for must carry on cable. Otherwise they pay as little attention to their OTA spectrum as possible.

The question isn't how many are broadcasting, they all are or will be broadcasting, the question is how many are receiving OTA for DTV.

As of now OTA is all but dead.
