First this is a web page for the first UK offering. This page is at least 4 maybe 5 years old. Desperate Google searches won't help.
I'm certainly glad we NEVER used cofdm here, as illustrated by pointers on this webpage:
http://www.angelfire.com/tv2/dttaerials/
and that lousy system wasn't even HDTV, can you believe it?
This was also the old version of COFDM 2K which is only being used in the UK. It was used then at an average power level of 1.5 kW. They have increased power to an average of a whopping 3 kW.
And it was wildly successfully with close to 2 million subscribers in around 18 months. They went out of business because of bad decisions relative to second tier football contracts that they overpaid for. Had nothing to do with the business model or the technical constraints they were working with.
First generation receivers that were problematic mentioned on this site are still being used in the UK but most people have purchased improved versions. Like 10 million people and growing.
In the US that would be 60 million which is more than half of all households in the US.
