I sent off an email to Comcast asking them about HD. Their site says that I
can get HD for only an additional $5/month. I'm skeptical because they have
lied to me before. But at least this time I have an email. The reason for my
skepticism is because I have their lowest level of service. It only costs
$13.50/month and doesn't include any type of STB. According to their site I
would only need to rent an STB to get the local HD channels.

This email says they will supply me with an STB that has a hard drive and 2
tuners for $5/month. Hard to believe.

This is the email I received from Comcast (My original question is at the
end):

Dear John,

Thank you for contacting Comcast Cable.

Our HDTV converter boxes support all four outputs.

You can find specifications for our HDTV boxes at the following site:

http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/support/default.asp?supportSection=HomeEntertainment

Once you are on this page go down the list until you find the DCT6412
Dual-Tuner DVR and HD Set-top.

If you have additional questions or need further assistance, feel free to
reply to this email.

Thank you for choosing Comcast as your cable service provider.

Sincerely,

Richard R

I currently am subscribed to "Limited Cable Service". I have just purchased an
HDTV ready TV. I have looked at your channel lineup and it says I can get 5
HDTV channels for an additional $5 per month, which I'm assuming is the rental
of some type of set top box.
My question is: What is the output of the set top box. Is it RF, component,
SVHS, HDMI???
Is there a website I can go to for the boxes specifications.
Thank you
John M. Ahlstrom
