Re: OTA at 40+miles

The most important item for successful reception is the antenna, not the
tuner. In my experience assuming equivalent transmitter power, antenna
height and frequency; if you can receive an analog picture with a moderate
amount of snow you will get good digital reception. If you check you will
likely find that your station uses the same tower for both of their
antennas. If so, by checking analog reception you can get a good idea of
potential digital success.

I use a Sony HD-200 with an attic antenna and get excellent reception at 42
miles in flat Florida.
