I purchased a Sony DHG-HDD500 HDTV Tuner/HD recorder combination on Wednesday. It is connected to an outside antenna (through a 12 dB line amplifier) After I set it up I had access to 16 analog and 24 digital channels. I followed the on-screen information for setting up the "TV Guide" but have not received the "TV Guide" yet (the set has been plugged in for over 36 hours).Your are in the middle of Orland, you should have no problem getting the guide. Go through the set up and check back a day later.....
I checked with Sony, this set receives the "TV Guide" from an analog station. The antenna is oriented for maximum signal strength for the digital channels. I tried to find out which analog stations are transmitting the "TV Guide" (and Guide Plus Gold) code in my area (zip code: 32819). The people I have talked to (including two local TV station 'engineers') were not aware of any stations that transmitted the code.
I know that there is or used to be a TV station in my reception area that transmitted the code since I used to receive them on my Philips TV "Guide Plus" menu screen until about 6 months ago.
Any help would be appreciated.

Its a fantastic unit, you will love it...once you get it set up.
