Usually, it's because they can't sell enough of them at a high
enough price to make their profit margin goals, though
sometimes it just means that some of the parts have been
discontinued.
It usually means they've got a new model ready to go that has a
higher margin or will gain them market share with more features
and/or a lower price.
Occasionally it means the product was a dog, but more often
than not, it just means it's being replaced by something newer
and better (better by their measures -- which may not be the
same as yours).
