Hi Bob,

Welcome to the club! <g> I do not understand this at all. You are
the first I've heard of having problems with the 6412 on Comcast. All
others says their boxes work fine. But maybe its "where" you're at?
The fellows I'm referring to were on Comcast in Phoenix.

Last night was a FIRST time for my box. In four months this is the
first time that TWO shows in a row FAILED to record. I have season
passes to "Without a Trace," "ER," and "CSI." All 3 were on between 9
and 11 PM here in Orange County CA. The only one to record was ER !

Because of a number of people praising the 6412, and (I gess)
considering me a "nut" for complaining about it, I had begun to think
that the problem was NOT in the Motorola box, but rather the 3rd party
software that runs it. That would explain why these boxes work fine on
Comcast but not on Cox. Cox has faulty software, but now I'm back to
square #1 and puzzled again. All I want is a box that works. :)

I know what you mean about the BIG differences between TiVo and "the
others." The "Wishlist" on TiVo and its other features make it
thepremier DVR on the market, BUT, mine is analog only with a single
tuner. I'm using it on Cox Cable and have never had a problem. Cox
will not respond to my complaints, either written or phoned in. If I
phone tech support, the standard response is: "Maybe your STB needs to
be "reset?"
