Help Please ! Which RP seems better ? I'm tech challenged ! ( repost-best bang for buck)

Hello ,

I'm trying to purchase a new television, but feeling like there is so much
I don't know about todays technology that I'm a little worried that what I
percieve to be the best deal might in fact be the worst one. It appears that
there is SOOO much more to consider than simply picture quality. I have done
research , been to stores, ect...but still am a bit overwhelmed . It seems
the more I know, I realize that there is so much more I DON'T know !

I already have decided that a CRT rear projection is the way I want to go,
and am ready to buy now. In fact,
just got home from having a second look at the Hitachi 57F710S
http://www.hitachi.us/tv/browse/projection/16-9digital/57F710S.shtml , (
$1800 w/ free delivery and $180 rebate) , which I am comparing to the

Sony KDP 57WS655
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start?ProductSKU=KDP57WS655&Dept=tvvideo&CategoryName=tv_ProjectionTVs_RearProjection_55to80TVs
($1800)

and the Toshiba 57H94
http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/televisions/product.asp?model=57h94 ($1800 ) .

I think I favor the picture quality of the Hitachi ....but the same TV
looks different in different stores ! In any case , they all are close..I
have to look hard to try and spot differences. Now, here's my problem. I am
not that technically advanced , and cannot figure out at all which is the
better set regarding features and specs, ( I can read them, but don't really
know what they mean !) For example ..I have no clue if a 4MB 3D Y/C Comb
filter is better, worse, or equal to a 3D Digital ! Or if it even is
important .... Is AUTO or MANUAL convergence better..... and the list goes
on and on..

Some of the specifications are probably meaningless, but some ( or lack of
some ) may be very significant regarding the quality, ease of use , ability
to watch video and dvd , making adjustments, ect....

My tv is on about 10-12 hours a day . We watch a lot of sports, Discovery ,
local news , and prime time programming. We occasionally watch DVD's , and
less occasionally videos. I have a mini-dv camcorder that I plug into the RV
jacks to watch any family videos I take. I do not plan on connecting a
computer to my television , although the thought of viewing digital pictures
on a 57 inch screen is an interesting possibility. Also, I have cable , and
do not forsee NOT having either cable or satellite service .

If anyone has an opinion about any of these models ... or would care to look
over the specs and give me any input, I'd be eternally grateful ! ( I'm not
asking for an explanation for every item...just an opinion on the real
important things) I haven't shopped for a tv in 15 years, and this is
COMPLICATED !!

I just don't want to overlook some big thing because I can't understand it's
importance...and I'm hoping to make a decision before the rebate on the
Hitachi expires in a few days. I can't imagine being able to learn it all
that soon .

Thanks in advance, and if you have any real estate questions, feel free to
ask !!

Ray
