Are you sure you don't mean 37G4U? 37D4U doesn't come up at the Aquos web
site. The G4U requires a cable box. I recently got a 37D5U. This model has
all the tuners, including off the air HD and digital cable. I am using it
with the cable card, and happy with it. Price was reasonable, 2236 from a
local store, delivered.
Finding literature is going to be tough, especially since at least half the
authors don't know what they are talking about. Really unhappy with Consumer
Reports. You could get the current issue of CR, but take their comments with
a grain of salt. I downloaded the user's manuals for 3 or 4 sets before I
bought.
Your best bet is to compare sets in a store, keeping in mind that the color
can be adjusted. Make sure it is connected to an HD source, that is
transmitting HD, and not a DVD player. Also make sure it has enough
connectors for what you need; eg S-Video for VCR, Component Video for DVD,
and Component or DVI for cable box. (HDMI may, or may not work with a cable
box. DVI won't work either, if the set does not have the right software).
