Re: Letterman now in HD

It will take more than HD to get folks to watch Letterman. Last night's
broadcast was a disgrace (content-wise) and they continue to struggle for
semi-decent material. A stunning picture and great sound just make the sad
situation a lot worse. His shtick is getting very tired.

I have been watching Letterman since he had a mid-day TV show (way back in
the late 70's), and I appreciate his talent. But these past few years have
not been his finest. At this point in the race, Leno is miles ahead in the
"entertainment" department.

Regarding Dave's comments, most people watching the show in SD probably
don't know what HD really is, or even care. Those folks watching in HD (like
us) just wound up shaking our heads...and changing the channel.

| Can't compare. Having said that Dave handled it quite well. They
| showed bacon frying in HD then three stage goons back stage having an
| argument. Dave said, "See how wonderful that is in high definition?"
|
| Also, in his monologue he announced that the show was now being
| broadcast in high definition television. He added, "1 in 500,000
| people have a high definition tv set. So that means two people are
| watching us tonight in hi def."
|
| They then showed a phony CBS ad (or at least a phony audio-over)
| announcing the Letterman Show is now in hi-def, with the final
| comment, "What a waste of technology."
