Hi,
Considering a first HDTV set.
There are so many strange brand names such as Syntax Olevia, Maxent,
Hisense, Kreisen, Soyo, etc., etc. Who is servicing these brands?
We decided on a 37 in. LCD set. Could experts here give me a pointer
for best bang for the buck?

I could, but you've already decided on the wrong technology. If you have the room for a CRT based RPTV, you get the biggest and best bang for the buck with one of them.
