Since there's no such thing as EDTV...only SD and HD, it's a meaningless question.
The only thing this set will do is bump 480i (ntsc) to 480p and downgrade everything else to the same level.
BTW HDMI is a DIGITAL connection...480i is ANALOG. It improves NOTHING Use the S video connection.
