Why do the players always reveal so much at TC and in the confessional
interviews? I realize the TC usually goes on for an hour or two (we only
see an edited portion) and Jeff works very hard to get everyone to talk.
And I'm sure it's a requirement of their contract that they talk during
the
confessionals. But just once I'd like to see a player or group of players
in an alliance make an agreement among themselves that they're not going
to
reveal anything about their plans or their strategies to the camera. When
asked a question, just say "I don't know" or ""I don't have an opinion on
that". So many times, it seems that things that are revealed in the
confessionals get fed to Jeff and he ends up asking about them at TC.
This
goes back to Season One when Rich or someone got blindsided by Jeff at TC
with a question about whether or not there was an alliance. And we've
seen
countless examples of players revealing things at TC that come back to
haunt
them later. For once, I'd like to see a really smart player or group of
players just refuse to reveal anything of substance to the camera. After
all, their contracts can force them to participate in the confessionals
and
TC but they can't be forced to actually say anything important.
Maybe that's why Purple Kelly only got a couple of confessionals and
said nothing of note in those confessionals. ;)
On a serious note, Kelly did say a lot in the bonus clips. I have a feeling
they edited her down to nothing after she quit. What about NaOnka I hear you
screaming?! She caused way too much drama and was too involved in the game
to give a ghost edit to.
It's a good idea but it's really hard to pull off. Plus there's a real
desire to show how intelligent a player they are to someone. It's also
going to be impossible to hide the strategies/plans from the camera
when they have to talk to other members of their alliance and the
cameras are always there. They could not bring it up at the TCs but
they can't hide it from the camera unless they are in an alliance of
one.
If a player said nothing at TC there's a good chance most of the others
would think that they were hiding something causing them to distrust the
person.
Concerning the confessionals, this is probably the best way to get air time
and given how many of these people want to use Survivor to further their
acting/modeling career there's little chance they'll say nothing and miss
out on possible screen time. Plus, it's rather obvious that the more detail
a player provides in confessionals the better their odds of getting screen
time.

Ditto, you saved me the trouble of typing it. Many of the people on
the show are attention whores.
