Basically I agree with Russell that the current voting system is flawed.
Here is what I propose for an easy fix:

1. Permanently make it final 2 instead of final 3 no matter if it starts
with 16, 18 or 20 contestants.

2. Jury have their own votes just like the current system. And Americans
have their own vote. The winner of each vote wins $250,000. One can only
achieve the title of "Sole Survivor" when he or she captures both the
jury's and Americans' hearts. It makes the game more difficult to play
but after 20 seasons, we want to see a more difficult game.

This system also has the benefits of minimizing the damages caused by
spoilers as the public voting won't start until the next-to-final
episode is aired. Also up-to-debate is to double jury's pays if their
result matches Americans' choice. So they might vote based on the
anticipation of the public opinions instead of their personal feelings.

I like this idea combined with Steven L's jury idea. Hold up all the
players at Ponderosa. The booted player brings in a dvd like they do
in BB. At the end of the game the jury is randomly selected then like
you said, they get 1/2 the vote and America gets the other half

I don't think America should get a vote.

Because America may base its vote(s) in part at what they heard during the
Confessionals. But that stuff is stuff *about* the gameplay (and
sometimes personal info about the Survivors), it's not the gameplay
itself. And it's stuff that no other Survivors have access to (other than
their own, of course).

That's unfair to the other Survivors. Some Survivor gives us the best sob
story in confessional about how her husband is at home with the kids,
blah-blah-blah--so on that basis we vote her the million dollars?

No one voting should be able to see the confessionals before they do so. If
you want a great example of how someone can be screwed out of a win
reference BB3. Danielle Reyes played possibly the best BB game ever and was
so good that she kept an alliance she had with another HG secret the entire
time. Her downfall was that she tended to call things as she saw them in her
DR sessions and if someone made a stupid move she said so (her DR sessions
were great!). The problem was they showed the jury the confessionals and she
lost the game 6-1 (Jason her secret alliance partner voted for her). After
that season they decided to only show the jury video of challenges. If this
Survivor jury had seen all of the confessionals I wonder if Sandra would
have won? Between the three of them, Parv's confessionals (at least the ones
we saw) were by far the nicest toward other players.
