One other comment, Coach mentions something about his being voted out will
be even stupider if they don't merge. I wonder if he let something slip
with
that comment? Personally, I'd love for there to be no merge as the concept
of this season doesn't lend itself to a merge.
I doubt that is going to happen. Especially since we don't have a
tribe that loses every challenge like.. umm Ulong?
But with the tribes relatively equal in size why not keep the Heroes vs.
Villains concept alive as long as possible? I would also think that having a
final TC involving a mix of Heroes and Villains would also be better for
them, at least for promotional purposes.
What gets me about Coach's interview is that he refuses to admit that
the main reason the strong people left is that they were seen as a
real threat for some of the people in the game. If they hadn't been
seen as trying to get those people out they wouldn't have been
targets.
This is where Coach and Rob are similar and made similar mistakes. The game,
if it ever was, is no longer about surviving the elements and keeping your
tribe strong. Now individual and small alliance strategy trumps everything
else and people are more worried about getting to the end and stacking the
jury with people who might vote for them. If you think about it, what's the
sense if keeping your tribe strong if the majority like you less than
everyone else? Better to take your chances with the other tribe(s).
Another thing Coach said that I didn't understand is that the players
aren't allowed to see each other before the finale? When did that
become the rule? I think Coach is dreaming when he says that as it's a
rule that doesn't serve any purpose. Especially since we know they
email/phone/tweet each other all the time. So stopping people from
physically meeting doesn't accomplish anything.
I didn't know it was a rule either and it makes no sense. Their contracts
clearly state that they can't tell anyone what happened but the other
players already know everything other than the final vote count. The only
thing I can think of is that MB and CBS want to give the illusion that the
players are still playing. We all know that isn't true but there's probably
enough people who buy that line that they figure it's worth going with.
