What mystifies me is the whole timeline. In 1999, the couple broke up
but the woman persuades the guy to make a sperm donation for a future
child with the promise that he had no responsibility to the child nor had
any visitation rights of a father. He met another woman, married her and
they started a family. Then in 2004, 5 years later, she decides to use
his
sperm and gets herself inseminated and has a child. Then after the birth
she decides that the sperm donor now has a fiscal responsibility and sues.
The article isn't clear and I'm too lazy to look up any other references
but the way I read it was;
The gal used the guy's sperm fairly soon after he had provided it to get
pregnant via artificial insemination and was raising the twins by herself
for X years.
But after a while, she decided that being a single mom wasn't as fun as
she had thought it would be and reneged on the deal, demanding child
support payments _and_ back-child support payments.
Where the ***hell*** is her responsibility to take care of this child
on her own that obviously -->she<-- choose the timing of in order to
have the child?
Apparently responsibility goes out the window once you've "changed
your mind"....
Tell me, if he has now has to make support payments ($1500/month),
does he also have the visitation rights if he so wishes? Justice has
be served both ways.
Not necessarily. The courts could just as easily rule that because the
guy hadn't wanted to be a dad in the first place and hadn't acted as a
dad to the twins, he had no rights as a father.
That is, other then paying child support....
