Last night's PM had a twist. The previous cast offs came back as a group
of "ghost": Christian, Joy, Joe Don, Sean, Christa, Cheryl, Alexis. They
had a chance to wreak revenge for being cast off by winning the treasure
hunt of $100,000
The treasure turned out to be $50,000. I guess Joe Don was just guessing when he said $100,000.
One of the things they had to do was
recover a key. They did. It was entrusted to John, the first pirate to be
cast adrift. However, he lost the key in the stream.
I'm still wondering how all the fake editing on this show works. They showed us a map that indicated teams would go up stream to the certain point and read a compass. The left stream was the correct route (East) and the right stream was the wrong route (South). Then, when they showed the teams, the Black team went left and the Red team went right. Yet, somehow, the editing claimed that the Black team went the wrong way. Just like last week's fake rowing around the island, this show faked something with the routes.
In a post-game interview, Joe Don indicated as much. He said that while he hoped they would actually be sailing long voyages to lots of locales, what was really happening was a series of photo-ops:
They would sail the boat a short distance so the camera crews could videotape it sailing along. Then they would stop and do the next Challenge. Then they would sail it another short distance and so on. Much like Hollywood filming a movie. Evidently, most of these stops they make to row ashore are sufficiently close to each other that all they're doing is sailing the boat for a couple of minutes at a time, just long enough to get some nice long shots of the boat sailing along and keep the on-shore stops looking different from one another.
Even the Staten Island ferry in New York gives you a longer voyage than that. :-)
