The opportunity to grab the best position will always exist...right up until
the point the switch card is used. It is only after the switch card has
been used that the opportunity to take the best position is gone.

Actually, that is what we are arguing. You seem to claim that some 'best
position' can get destroyed if you wait too long. That argument is
basically irrelevant to the game. The game is about having the best
position at the end of the game, not with trying to grab one early and hope
that the others do not take it away by ganging up on you.

No. The advantage is to switch late enough that the superior position
CANNOT be degraded no matter what the opposing players do.
