watching Survivor would probably prefer to compete in TAR instead.

I agree with that...TAR is basically laid back fun rather than
hardship...and with TAR, you can theoretically do more to control your own
fate. However, someone that wanted to compete on TAR probably would be a
viewer, no? Gary said that Survivor was the ONLY show his family watched
together. I guess that means he doesn't even watch TAR, but that his family
applied to it (including him so that they could get their tape noticed)?

I must be alone in thinking that TAR is infinitely more frustrating and stressful than Survivor. The whole idea of racing would make me constantly nervous and on edge. I only watched it for one season (when boston rob was on) and I felt a bit queasy. I can't imagine actually doing it. Survivor seems like it would be less stressful with more control over your own fate, since you have days and days before the votes to plan your strategy and coax people to vote the way you want to vote. Whereas TAR comes down to mainly physical abilities and the ability to perform under high pressure, this is only a small element of survivor. I think you have infinitely more control in survivor (unless you are a lidia type).

TAR strikes me as much too contrived.
As an example: "Race from here to there", but "there" doesn't open until 8am the next day, so it really doesn't matter how fast you get there, which means it isn't really a race. And all you need to do is hop a cab, so it isn't that amazing either.
The only thing that seems to matter on that show is the final sprint to the mat.
