I don't know if this man is guilty, I wasn't there.
There have been several of these stories in the news of late. I
wonder how difficult it would be to defend yourself after so many
years. If you were guilty you'd have lots of time to think of a good
story. If you were innocent seems like a lot of time to make
contradictory statements or say something, that taken out of context,
could point to guilt.
Either way, society is demanding justice and I wouldn't want to be
accused after so much time after the crime. Anyone have stats on
falsely convicted cold cases? Or even, conviction rates for those
accused of cold cases?
I'm guessing the defense would get easier - "beyond a reasonable
doubt" and all that.
