Sure more men are committing violence. But there is plenty of
evidence that more victims of crime are *innocent* men than are
innocent women.

Do you have a cite for that?
Any of Michael's cites of gender ratios of victims will do,.
----------------------------
LOL, like I put any store into any of mikey's *cites*. Remember, this is
the same michael who argued an 11 yr. old child most likely enticed the 70
yr. old neighbor guy into impregnanting her. And how lucky women in, where
was it, the congo, were cause they could trade their bodies for food with
the U.N. Peacekeepers. *That* mikey.
Please, I can discuss with you rationally, but I don't accept *michael
cites*, just as he doesn't accept any cites many of us women use, claiming
they are biased.

Like I said before, even in an area like
Cary, N.C., very affluent, exceedingly *yuppie* if you will, women are
advised to not run alone, not frequent the parks except in pair, etc.
To what extent is this based on real threats and to what extent is itn
simply propogating negative gender stereotypes?
---------------
Of course it's based on real threats. Instances where women either were
assaulted, raped, or attempts were made but they either got away or someone
close by heard them and came to their rescue.
The greater Raleigh area has a lengthy ( many miles long) bicycle trail and
various nature areas. Every couple weeks we hear on the news about a woman
or child approached in one of these areas. As for the unmarked car threat,
that's been ongoing for years now, I believe I hear it in and around the
greater Raleigh area and as far as the greater Greensboro, N.C. area, about
an hour or so along the interstate between Raleigh and Greensboro. The
cops have a standing rule, mentioned every couple months, "You do not have
to stop for an unmarked car in an isolated area." "you will NOT be charged
for not stopping for a blue light if you slowly proceed to a populated area
prior to stopping for the cop."

IMO, they know women will follow the advice. Men wouldn't (again,
IMO).
