The question is, who called the local police? Tiger's wife had been
busy smashing the car's rear window with a golf club, in a rage, as he
drove off, according to TMZ. If an OnStar operator, and not a
neighbor, called the gendarmes, that would be good publicity for
OnStar. Sort of.
Until TMZ came along with the actual facts, the press accepted without
question the bogus story that Tiger's wife used the golf club to
rescue him. Yes, a golf club is what everyone takes to a car accident
scene.
The reporters who wrote stories on the accident repeating this
ridiculous golf club story, almost calling Tiger's wife a hero, are
typical of who writes the news these days. Gullible, lazy and
underpaid reporters who are worthy of a reverse Pulitzer Prize. A
prize given to the most incompetent reporters.

No way would anyone have suffered facial injuries by backing into a fire hydrant or a tree while reversing out of a driveway in a Caddy Escalade. However, being walloped with a nine iron would cause such injuries. If this happened to me, my wife would have been arrested on the spot for spousal abuse and thrown in the slammer. But then, I don't earn $100M a year!!!

I don't remember reading that he was backing out of the driveway. I assumed that he was driving forward--I doubt if Tiger has such limited space that he would have to back out. Have you seen information that said otherwise? I do think it is likely that his wife was chasing him and struck the back of the SUV *in anger.* If she caused the injuries to his face, I doubt if she did it with the golf club--that would do far much damage (unless, of course, Tiger was able to duck and it was only a glancing blow).

You are quite correct.
Being on the lower end of the socio-economic ladder, I just assumed that everyone backed out of a driveway. In my case, there is insufficient room to turn around before exiting. I also assumed that because the airbags did not deploy, he would not have hit the fire hydrant/tree head on.
Whichever way he drove out of his driveway, he would normally be driving at a slow speed and even if he hit a brick wall the only thing that would have been bruised would have been his pride.
If he was playing away from home, then he deserves everything he gets.
A shame really, as he has everything that every young man would die for.
Let us hope that the young couple sort it out, if just for the children's sake.

Now that I have seen some pictures of the car, it seems that he must have built up a considerable amount of speed--not like on a highway, but there was a *lot* of damage to the front end of the car (and not from a golf club--that was in the rear side window). Tiger's mansion is probably the that has enough driveway to build up past the "creeping" that I do in my driveway!
