OPINION: The unique power of crying rape

September 23, 2009 By CATHY YOUNG

Cathy Young is a contributing editor of Reason magazine.

The recent incident at Hofstra University, in which a student claimed
that she was gang-raped in a men's room, has reignited the ongoing and
often bitter debate about false accusations of rape. Are false rape
charges a serious problem exacerbated by feminist claims that women
don't lie about rape?
She should cite where feminists claim that women don't lie about rape.
Umm, right, because you don't remember the slogan "Why would she lie"? And you don't remember Susan Brownmiller and her fake cites about the
vanishing infrequency of false rape accusations.

Nancy, you're either very young, or very dishonest.

I don't think her excuse is youth

There still is no cite.

Of course there is. Brownmiller is a cite.

I'm not being dishonest either.

Ummm... you said "there is no cite" when clearly there is.
That's about as close to dishonesty as you can come.

You cited Brownmiller. The author of the article cited
no one. Clearly, there is no cite from the author. Now
you're being dishonest.

You didn't say "There still is no cite from the author".
You said "there still is no cite". That was after (as you
admit) I cited Brownmiller. So there WAS a cite. What did
you think -- that the journalist who wrote the original article
was going to come along, read this thread, and post a cite for you?
