wear that helmet next time!

She doesn't have a next time.

really. had they provided a helmet (mandatory)

I believe helmets are available, and she chose not to wear one, though
I have no cite other than being at other ski resorts.

Helmets are mandatory for children, under 16 I think, but not adults.
Sort of like motorcycle helmets, it's a good idea, but you can't
regulate common sense.

, allowed
the medics in (refused entrance)

she apparently signed a waiver because *she* thought she was fine, and
refused to see the paramedics or a doctor.

, checked on her (nobody did) , had
anyone there who knew symptoms (none
evidently did!)

but they did, as soon as she told them she had a head ache, the
ambulance was called. Yes, it should have been done sooner, but the
patient decides in those cases (that's why they have the stupid
waivers in the first place, so they aren't responsible for it).

, etc etc etc .... its a tragedy that did not
need to happen. A rotten shame... a great lady gone.

Excepting that the last "expert" I listened to said the type of brain
injury she had (blunt impact), a helmet would not have mattered. Her
brain shifted too much inside her skull, and a helmet would not have
prevented that.

I agree that helmets are the best option, as a preventative, but they
aren't going to protect your brain if the impact jars the brain hard
enough.
