Two new news stories:

"Authorities say their initial reports that a
missing north Florida girl was wearing a
pink shirt when she disappeared eight
days ago are incorrect."

Former tenant describes "deadbolt" he put
on the door:
Smallwood remembered the house and
said its floors were noisy. He said if
someone was walking inside, he could
hear them even if they were on the other
side of the house.
"Someone could not carry the child out of
that house unless someone was in a
drunken stupor, and not hear that child
being taken from that house," Smallwood
said.
He explained he had an extra slide lock
placed on the back door.
It's not clear if the same lock is still on
the house nearly a decade later.
However, Tuesday Misty Croslin, Haleigh's
father's girlfriend, talked about the lock.
She lived in the house and was the last
to see Haleigh.
She said Haleigh and Haleigh's little
brother "could reach [the lock] but they
couldn't unlock it because it was hard."

Not a pink shirt? What's that about? And the lock, so okay: is it a dead bolt? or a slide lock? Which? If it's a simple slide lock, impossible for the children to open, fine - but how in the world could it be "picked" like they keep saying?

As for the creeking floors and noise inside the place, I don't find that persuasive. Teenagers like Foggy, I mean Misty, often sleep like the dead, don't hear a sound. In fact the bf said she was usually asleep when he came in from work. And - he could actually have come in a few minutes earlier that night, and disappeared that child himself (then shocked when he found Misty up and walking around when he later made his final entrance, if that's what happened).
