They took that beautiful kid everywhere they went, they had two male

to look after him; he spent the last day of his life in the Bahamas on
board
a yacht with his entire family and caretakers. I am adamant about
children's
rights, but I am not convinced there was neglect here, at least not
until
I
know a whole lot more. These people had the wherewithal to keep him
entirely
out of their world, but did what they thought was right. There is not a
shred of evidence his life would have been one bit better with all the
conventional treatments in the world.

(And I am NOT a Scientologist. I was tricked into going to a meeting
once
by
an old boyfriend - 30+ years ago! Didn't like it then, can't abide it
now.
He wasn't my bf for long, I might add.)

My point is that all the affluency, money for 24/7 care, attention
and love can't cover up the some serious flaws of denying the Travoltas
son's medical condition and denying him proper medication and treatment.

It is the blind leading the blind, no matter if the blind are eating
fine foods and wearing shiny jewelry. It may not look as the standard
child abuse, but denying their son proper seizure medication, is either
neglect or child abuse. If the Travoltas didn't want to give their son
Depakote, they could have given a couple other anti seizure medications
or a cocktail of a couple. Both Parents are hard core Scientologist,
and here is a picture of Jett's mom, and her feelings about psychoactive
drugs..

(Kelly Preston is in the black shirt, the burger eating addict is
holding the poster board)

John Travolta is not shy about his opinion to psychoactive drugs...

The problem is that most seizure medications are psychoactive, and
there is a reason that the main certification board in the US is called
the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

We still don't know what Jett died of, and it sounds like he was dead
for some time before he was found, no matter if CPR was administered to
him. Doctors don't declared a patient DOA, unless the signs are pretty
obivious.

You don't have to explain your point or feel defensive, I didn't think
you were a Scientologist. My guess is that you were this
Scientologist's boy toy long enough to see his hot, throbbing purple...
e-meter, and get some thetans.

I'm not defensive in the least! *laughing*!

As for the Travoltas, unlike you, I'm thinking they had the best medical,
scientific evaluations avail on the planet. If, as you said, Scientology
disallows/disavows anti-seizure meds, and yet their lawyer says Jett was
on
them for a long time, until they no longer worked & were causing possible
liver damage, then the Travoltas broke the rules of Scientology didn't
they?
My guess is that they were willing to do whatever would work, as is the
position with many (most perhaps? who can say?) parents of severely
afflicted children, regardless of their religion. (Ever met a devout
Catholic who got an abortion to terminate their underaged daughter's
pregnancy? Bet so - whether you know it or not.) Treatment for the classic
form of autism varies WIDELY, and parents become very frustrated - espec
those for whom nothing works. And those DO exist, where nothing helps for
long.

And I don't know, maybe they refused to accurately (or at all) to give
their
son's difficulties a name, but it does not mean they did not seek 21st
century medical treatment, and that medicine failed them. Even WITH
treatment, they would likely require and/or want 24hr caretakers for the
severity of Jett's symptoms. You are right that shiny jewellery and riches
do not equate to good med care. It cannot, espec if such care does not
exist. The fact is, autism did not kill this child. As you well know.

If the parents of Jett have been negligent and endangered his very life
for
years, that's a different kettle of fish of course. But it didn't happen.
Just because you have in for Scientologists and Scientology, you're
wasting
your time in this particular instance IMHO. You don't have to be defensive
though. ;~D

Just curious, but did you happen to see the video of Tom Cruise rant, for
lack of a better term, at Matt Lauer concerning Brooke Shields usage of
antidepressants?
