Raleigh, N.C. - The husband of a slain Wake County mother found dead in her
home more than two years ago is not contesting claims that he is responsible
for her death.

According to an order entered Tuesday morning in Wake County Superior Court,
Jason Young is defaulting on his right to answer claims in the lawsuit,
filed in late October by Michelle Young's mother, Linda Fisher.

Jason Young's attorney, Roger Smith Jr., was in court Tuesday morning and
not immediately available for comment. But according to one of Fisher's
attorneys, Jack Michaels, that means he is essentially admitting to the
claims.

"We were prepared for this to go either way," Michaels said. "And we're just
not really privy to his thinking, his finances, and I'll admit it was
somewhat a surprise for us."

Michelle Young, 29, was five months' pregnant with her second child when her
sister found her lying face down on Nov. 3, 2006, inside her home at 5108
Birchleaf Drive. Her then-2-year-old daughter, Cassidy, was unharmed at her
side.

In her claim, Fisher asks that Jason Young be barred from collecting any
insurance benefits on his wife's life and also for compensation for pain and
suffering, funeral expenses and the monetary value to Cassidy of the loss of
her mother.

Jason Young told Wake County sheriff's investigators that he was out of town
on business when his wife was killed, and authorities have never named him a
suspect or person of interest in the case.

Authorities have not named any suspects in the case, but search warrants
suggest he is the focus of investigators.

Affidavits indicate he talked with investigators the day his wife's body was
found and later gave fingerprints under a court order, but has generally
been uncooperative.

Since his wife's death, Jason Young has moved with his daughter to western
North Carolina to be closer to his family.
